Dr. Hala Hattab
Dr. Hala Hattab is Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship at the British University in Egypt. As a Chemical Engineering graduate, she started her professional career as a business development officer in an engineering consultancy company and moved upwards until became the Business Development Manager. In 2007, she received Ph.D. in female entrepreneurship and added to her professional career a new academic dimension that covers research as well as teaching.
Dr. Hattab has special interest in issues related to Entrepreneurship, especially in the Arab world and has published articles in International Journals discussing these topics. As a former Programme Manager for the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM)-Egypt, she has authored GEM Egypt report for three cycles. She is a member of editorial board of different journals and a regular reviewer for entrepreneurship-specialized Journals and conferences. Dr. Hattab teaches different entrepreneurship modules at the university aiming at promoting entrepreneurship among students and prepare them to be entrepreneurs themselves, including ideas generation, opportunity recognition, business planning, etc…
As a believer and advocate of entrepreneurship, Dr. Hala has been taking part in various activities that contribute in promoting entrepreneurial culture and mindset. For example, she acted as the main judge in first reality TV programme for and about young entrepreneurs in Egypt, in addition to different business plan competitions to support start-ups in Egypt and Middle East (Hult Prize, Orange Social Prize, Google’s Ebda2, OECD’s MENA 100, Cairo Start-Up Cup and others). She is one of the lead trainers in the IMPACT training program; the first social enterprise-focused training program in MENA, delivering training for entrepreneurs across the region on various topics. She has also led various trainings and mentorship sessions for entrepreneurs at different stages of their journey. Moreover, she is a Founding Member of the Middle East Council for Small Businesses and Entrepreneurship-Egypt.
