
Sarah El Battouty
Education: Graduated from the University of Cambridge in England with a degree in Architecture, Received a MPhil in Architectural philosophy 2002. She has an MSc in Sustainable development and environmental Project Management in Rural Areas from the Centre of Environment Development and Economic Policy from the university of SOAS and is a development Policy Specialist.
Occupation:
She is currently a senior advisor to the President of Egypt (Presidential Councils) with a focus on development policy. She is also serving on the advisory board of the American University of Cairo Architectural School, the Co-founder of Egypt Green Building Council. Sarah is a Co-chair of the American Chamber Corporate Impact and Sustainability Committee and an sits on the advisory Board of the Egyptian Stock Exchange Sustainability Committee. She was involved in shaping Egypt’s UNFCCC Paris Agreement. She was the Co-creator and steering committee member for the Presidential Leadership Program to empower youth with leadership skills and change management.
Sarah is the chair(woman) and founder of ECOnsult. An award winning environmental design consultancy in Cairo and China with projects in Egypt, UK, Italy and China. ECOnsult is recognized as one of the global companies that achieve the SDG’s with it being uniquely founded by a woman. ECOnsult has trained and created awareness programs for the private sector and government. It also has multiple energy saving buildings design by its team. Her awareness on sustainable development and climate change has been introduced to the private sector CSR with Egypt’s and international multinationals partnering with ECOnsult, as well the Egyptian Cabinet and Armed Forces. This is a unique awareness strategy on climate change awareness.
She is a regular speaker and advocate of Climate Action and is a member of NEXUS Impact MENA as well as being one of few young women to speak in the UK Parliament on Middle East Issues.
